The Art Of Ventriloquism By George Tollerton
"The Art of Ventriloquism" by George Tollerton of New Zealand. This is the Supreme Magic (Great Britain) reprint from the 1960's.Tollerton – with his figure "Jerry Jaxon" – were the Kiwi equivalent of Bergen & McCarthy…their greatest fame came via radio in the 1940's and 1950's. Public demand in New Zealand was great for a "how to" book on vent, so eventually Tollerton wrote this book. Well, perhaps "wrote" is too kind…in fact, if you can locate a copy of Philadelphian Howard Kingsley's classic 1922 text titled simply, "Ventriloquism", you'll experience an odd sense of deja vu as you read the pages. I suppose Tollerton assumed since he lived halfway 'round the world that no one would ever notice he cribbed Kingsley's work… WORD FOR WORD . But, then again…he didn't reckon on Tom Ladshaw reading both titles, did he? Still….it's a great little volume….Kingsley was a fine author!
