Gamblers’ Tricks With Cards Exposed and Explained by Jonathan H. Green

First of a selection of classic old books. 
Just check out in this book, page 29, trick called THE WAY TO CHANGE A CARD BY WORDS. Well, this is no other than the trick that was known as the 'David Blaine trick' for years. The other name was the Hand Sandwich? Does this remind you maybe? You use a duplicate and then you deal a card to a spectator(switching it on the way) and you deal a card for yourself. Then you state they have switched places and sure enough you both have the cards you thought the other should have had! The method is entirely different in this book (no double lifts which is the way the switch is accomplished these days). Back then it was what seems to be describing a form of the glide. Interesting stuff though! To think Blaine was getting famous off the Back of such an old trick in his first TV Special!
