Intuition by Unnamed Magician

"A very nice mentalism routine. And the method is devilish!" – Tony Bianco

"After I was taught the method for this, I immediately smiled. It is super clever, you won't be disappointed." – Brian Draven

"Many of you know the Unnamed Magician by now. But I've had the privilege of knowing him for a long time now. Any time he creates a new routine and sends it to me, I always make time that very day just so I can see it. This routine is no different." – Tommaso Guglielmi

To mark my 1st year anniversary at Lybrary, I am (in collaboration with someone else) releasing something very special, which, if you like my work, I'm sure you will enjoy. This is my 26th release, and I hope there are many more to come in the future.

You locate their card, and they locate yours … but done under conditions you've never seen before. A true test of extrasensory perception.

Very briefly:

The deck is split into two halves. The spectator selects a card from their half, and you select a card from your half. You then walk the spectator through a warm-up exercise in testing their intuition when it comes to finding a card whilst face down. Next, you both shuffle your respective cards into your respective halves, after which you swap halves. You use your intuition to try and find the spectator's card without looking at the faces of any of the cards in their half – meanwhile, the spectator uses their intuition to try and find your card without looking at the faces of any of the cards in your half. By some miracle (or intuition?), both of you succeed.

My friend has recorded a full performance which is attached below, so a complete effect description isn't necessary. Before you watch the video though, keep the following conditions in mind:

  • The spectator can examine the back of their half before selecting a card from it – they can also examine the front of their half. This is to ensure that their half is unmarked and regular (which it is).
  • The magician does not touch the spectator's half until the end of the routine. He only touches it after they have shuffled their selection into it.
  • When the magician deals through the spectator's half at the end (when trying to find their card), he does not peek at the faces of any of the cards.

Note: In addition to learning the effect in the video, you will also learn another similar effect. So there are two effects taught in the PDF.
